Kirkland Signature by Borghese Mineral Loose Eyeshadow & Mineral Eyeshadow Base

$17.99 for 0.53oz/15g & 2 brushes
At Costco, magic happens; there is really no denying that. You get to fulfill those long-suppressed fantasies of binge-shopping and have next to none of the guilt. In fact right now all I feel guilty about is not getting the anti-aging wrinkle defense serum in conjunction with my night cream, oh and I really want Fango--not a real reason, but it sounds like a do-it-yourself spa day in a jar.

But COSTCO, my love, this is a lovely birthday present for me! You shouldn't have! Count 'em: 4 full size eyeshadows (0.07oz/2g each), a full size/larger base (0.25oz/7g), AND TWO FULL SIZE BRUSHES. And honey, I've paid more for a single brush that's done less for me and my beauty than even just one of this seven piece kit!!! Lordy, my personal heaven has arrived, and it's a warehouse.....?.....
without eyeshadow or primer, only concealer
Setting aside my personal love for everything Costco, first, the two included brushes a perfect for use with these eyeshadows and every other eyeshadow you own. That's versatility for ya. One is a liner brush with medium firm bristles that will not scratch the lash line and have a dual fibered look (coloring, not composition). The other is a tapered slightly fluffy blending brush for both all-over and crease application, again with dual coloration, and both are fantastic at what they do.

Next we have the included 4 colors of mineral shadow: Simply Innocent, Simply Trendy, Simple Gorgeous, and Simply Tempting, all of which contain zinc oxide and silica for those wondering (may contain mica and titanium dioxide as well). None of the colors are meant to pack a super-dark punch of pigment, but layered or swept on right, Simply Tempting will get extremely close. Tempting has a burgundy-ruby edge underneath a subtle pink shimmer and a midnight black sheen; it makes a great liner and is also portable as a nighttime makeup touch. I heart that!
Mineral Eye Shadows clockwise from upper-right:
Simply Innocent is a matte light nude.
Simply Trendy is pinky nude with silver/gold shimmer (more sparkle than shimmer).
Simply Gorgeous is a good taupe with very fine silver shimmer.
Simply Tempting is a dark burgundy with blue-violet shimmer.

Finally, there is the Mineral Eyeshadow Base, which similarly sells on Borghese.com at $18.00 for the same quarter ounce--not bad, Costco! This base doesn't wow me as much as my trusty e.l.f. Primer but does extend the wear of shadow, especially these mineral ones. With them I get about 12 hours wear without creasing, but with other shadows, both high-end and drugstore, I start seeing minor creasing about 6 hours in (on oily lids). There is something to be said about providing products that work well together into one package, but it seems a little odd that it works so differently across products/brands.

From the packaging, these "loose eyeshadows...offer sheer glamour, soft shimmer or a dramatic evening accent. A makeup artist's secret, [eyeshadow base] maximizes the color and extends the wear of you eyeshadow while moisturizing lids and protecting eyeshadow from creasing. Even application of eyeshadow and extra-long wear are assured with this eyeshadow base."
