Dior Creme de Gloss in Rouge Nectar and Fig Nectar

$27.00 for 0.2 fl oz.
Alright, trying to power through as much as possible and start preparing the photos and reviews for e.l.f. week, I've been edging on a bit of burnout. A good bath and mask tonight should set me right!

Moving on, Dior Creme de Gloss is quite aptly named. The formula is cream-smooth and packed with pigment like no other gloss I know (consistently across colors). I purchased two colors: a lovely basic mauve with silvery micro-shimmer (641 Fig Nectar) and a wow true red with very subtle gold sheen (845 Rouge Nectar). First, these are really pleasant for me to wear because the sticky glosses (namely Chanel Glossimers) are erksome--I just don't like sticky, even if it lasts longer. That just means a feeling I don't like lasts longer, and I certainly don't like reapplying sticky to my lips. Personally I prefer to just reapply a pleasurable product.

Second, I have had an inner battle the last few days about whether or not to return Rouge Nectar. I love Fig Nectar too much to even think about giving it away (neutrals and all ;), but Rouge is a different story. The color payoff is wonderful, see photo below, but as a big sheer/neutral girl I am wondering whether keeping this more expensive red that I probably won't wear that often is worth it. And I've decided it is, so I'm keeping it. I love Dior, I love these glosses, and this Rouge Nectar might actually inspire me to wear more red-lips and be bolder!

As a final add on which must be mentioned because I went on the rant about "reapplication vs. sticky grossness," these glosses can fade rather quickly (as in two hours) around the inner lip. I usually rub my lips together a bit and the color evens out nicely, plus Rouge Nectar also stains the lips, making the fading less noticeable, just not as evenly glossy. In fairness, I'm not that good at applying opaque colors (especially reds) so I've noticed even more that the doe foot applicator is too big for super precision work, therefore, I suggest lining first for flawless application.

  1. So pretty, I'm a Dior girl too. I used to buy only Dior for a while. Love them both, but I'm leaning towards Fig Nectar.I guess I'm afraid of reds.
